Our Story
The idea of founding a nonprofit organization to help scientific research was initially sparked when we were graduate students. Having experienced the process of conducting research while in financial hardship, as Ph.D. students, motivated us to pursue this endeavor.
Nowadays, the lack of adequate research funding in academic settings affects a large number of young professionals. This typically amounts to a marked slowdown in the progress of critical scientific fields such as cancer research and infectious disease research. As a byproduct of this challenge, a significant number of graduate students may be forced to join industry internship programs in order to cover the costs of their research and education. While this might be advantageous for certain students wishing to pursue an industry career, it may distract others aiming to remain in academia and conduct research. As such, alternative sources of funding, such as small research grants, may significantly help the latter group and boost scientific research.
In April 2021, we founded Tahmasbi Saki Foundation for Scientific Research primarily to assist the scientific community by issuing small research grants to young professionals.
